Hi, my online handle is AkaiWolf or Akai/Aka for short.
I’m from Singapore, but currently based in Melbourne, Australia as a Student Researcher at Monash University(Australia) completing a Honors in B.Info.Tech. and Systems degree by Research. I graduated from B.ITS(Security) in mid 2012.
My research work takes me into the field of high-performance computing, specifically into configuration management. I also do some Information Systems Research on the side. I volunteer as a Student Ambassador for my faculty, Caulfield Faculty of IT, Monash University.
I do some photography when i can spare the time to, and am learning the Violin (Sort-of on-hold). I love travelling and exploring new things. When i do have time with my camera, I focus more on landscapes, skyscapes and cityscapes. Recently started exploring time-lapse photography and astro-photography
Now, personally I believe in many things, of which some here are listed. Definitely at top on the list would be “There are no coincidences, only what is meant to happen and will happen by the human choice.”, “Words are the most powerful objects ever invented” and “You always have a choice, even if you don’t realize it”.
I used to do quite a bit of programming in Visual Basic, .NET and C Family; not so much of that in the last few years though. Now working to re-learn and get back in touch with those skills. I’m more current with Java, PHP/HTML/CSS/JS(Incl Ajax) and Bash.
I’m working voluntarily as a General Manager for Reinforce-Networks, which is a small ISP(Sort-of) based back home in Singapore. We do hosting, co-location, network /IT infrastructure design and deployment, and some other related IT services. As part of my work, I provide consultations as well as work in system adminstration. I also run the AnimeBlogger Networkof sites.
My previous work experience includes work in network/system adminstration, customer service, logistics, administration, game official work, web/software development & design and project management.
Currently looking for a more permanent job in my research field or to do with system/network administration in Australia for mid-2013.
I love cooking, especially Japanese food and I really love Japanese music, you can find me usually listening to such tunes on my iPod. I’d list out my ‘to buy/really want to have’ list here, but that would be surprisingly short, and surprisingly expensive, so i would hold out on that.
I think that helping out at events is not about the reward, but about the process. You meet a lot of people hailing from all over who specialize in different things… The exposure is good, plus I enjoy the work; It’s fun.
So… this is my personal site, I mostly use it now as a photolog, or rather a place to put up my photos and other tidbits… Please look forward to it. Well, that’s about it for now..
Akai, Out.
